Description Summary
This tour is designed for travelers who want to know the historic center of Lima using public transport as a local. It will also give you the opportunity to visit two convents built during the colonial times and that are over 400 years old and full of art, carved woodwork and beautiful gardens.
You will have the chance to walk through the most important squares in the city, including the Plaza Mayor in Lima, one of the oldest on the continent.

The meeting point is at Terrua Coffee shop. Here the baristas are going to share there passion for Peruvian coffee.
After the whole group is ready, we will start walking towards the Metropolitan station to take the bus to the Historic Center, 25 minutes approx.
From the central station, the walking part starts towards the Plaza San Martin, which has a colonial architecture and colorful buildings around it. Here we can talk a little about who Don José de San Martín was and about his leading role in the independence of Peru.
Continuing with the tour is going to be time to walk through the famous Jiron of the Union, one of the most used streets in the Peruvian aristocracy during the colonial era and the first years of the republic, let’s see how it has changed over the years! This street ends where the Plaza Mayor of Lima is located. The Plaza Mayor of Lima has been considered a cultural heritage of Humanity since 1990.
Around the Plaza, you can see The Cathedral, the Government Palace and the Municipal Palace.
The next stop would be at the Santo Domingo Convent, which keeps its Sevillian gardens in good condition as well as its Library. Inside this convent was located the “Universidad de San Marcos, the first university in all Americas.
There is going to be a chance to visit the tower of the convent, you can go all the way up to have a spectacular view of Lima (this subject to availability).
After the Santo Domingo Convent, you will walk to the San Francisco Convent where you will walk inside the Catacombs, which were the first cemeteries in our country in the colonial era.
At the end of the tour, we will have a small tasting of Pisco and you will taste a delicious dessert for the way back.
