This tour is an option for people who like hiking and enjoy nature. The Humantay lagoon is located at 4180 meters above sea level. It is a perpetual snow mountain with active glacier tongues, it has a singular beauty where you can easily appreciate the “seracs” (compact snow of bluish and green tones), natural cracks, ice caves with stalactites and stalagmites of ice. In this place you can also observe the biodiversity of flora and fauna of the place. Being one of the tutelary snowfalls of the city of Cusco.
Due to the thaws, the lake or cocha of Humantay was formed. It is a paradisiacal lagoon of turquoise waters with a singular scenic beauty. The coloration of its waters is due to the minerals that are inside it and its greater depth is of approximately 4 meters.
Full Description:
After we pick you up at your hotel, we will start our adventure to the Humantay Lagoon with a three hour-drive to Mollepata (3850 m.a.s.l.). In Mollepata we will have a delicious breakfast to start our day well before beginning our trek. After half an hour we will arrive to Soraypampa where we will begin our trek up to the Humantay Lagoon (4200 m.a.s.l.). We will be able to appreciate beautiful views of the scenery and the impressive snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay. It is a 1.5-hour-walk to the lagoon with a low to moderate difficulty, and more than worth it when you see the magical view. We will have enough time to take pictures and enjoy its beautiful views. We will start our descent to Soraypampa, which is a lot easier than the way up. In Mollepata, buffet lunch will await us and, after some rest, we return to Cusco where we will arrive at 6 p.m.
