Recommendations:

Whether you are going on a day trip or overnight, please be a responsible tourist we try not to affect these special cultures:

  1. Please DO NOT give the kids candy. There is no dental care in isolated areas. It is already a health problem…. Please don’t make it any worse.
  2. Please DO NOT give anyone money unless it is for a purchase. Even giving a banana or a pencil will encourage begging eventually.
  3. Please DO NOT give money to your local family, otherwise, they will expect money in the future, That is why an optional food supplies gift is recommended (only for overnight trips).
  4. Ask before your photograph, but never try to give money as a first option.
  5. You may be asked for a “lip” to take the photo and give a small coin, no more than S/1.
  6. The local families often lend you a traditional wooly cap (a Chullo) to keep you warm. Don’t feel forced to buy it before leaving, but if you like it ask the price.
  7. Please bring back all your nonbiodegradable garbage, plastics, etc.
  8. Have nice trip. Buen Viaje!!!
