Jorge Chavez Airport From Miraflores

Getting from Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) to the stunning district of Miraflores can be tricky, especially if you’ve never been to Lima before.

Miraflores is considered the hub of culture in Lima, and for very good reason. It’s about 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) from the airport and the journey can take anywhere from 40 minutes to over an hour, depending on traffic, so choosing the right mode of transport is essential. There are several options to suit different budgets and comfort levels, from private airport transfers and trusted taxi services to more affordable shuttle buses and public transportation.

In this article we’ll take a look at some of the best ways to get to Miraflores from the Jorge Chavez airport, including budget-friendly options and the more convenient ones.

What Is The Most Convenient Option From Jorge Chavez Airport To Miraflores?

We get it, you’ve arrived late after a very long flight and you just want to get to your hotel in Miraflores… No worries! The more convenient options are probably what you’re looking for. In that case, it’s recommended to take a taxi or rideshare directly from the airport to your hotel.

Taxis and rideshares are the most convenient and widely used choices but we always recommend Airport-authorized taxi services like Taxi Seguro and Gringo Taxi’s (we’ll go into more detail about this down below). They will offer fixed rates that are pricey but very convenient and quick. Rideshare apps like Uber and Cabify are popular as well but aren’t as regulated as taxis and can be unsafe

The Different Methods Of Getting From Jorge Chavez Airport To Miraflores

QuickLlama

QuickLlama is a fantastic transportation option for getting to Lima from Miraflores and they lead the way with their efficient and quick airport transfer services. The cost is about 20 Peruvian soles (roughly $5) which is significantly cheaper than the other transfers on this list and you can get from the airport to Miraflores in approximately 15 minutes or so, provided there’s limited traffic.

Taxi Seguro

Taxi Seguro is more of a mainstream taxi service in Lima rather than a transfer service. It’s very safe and although it isn’t metered, you’ll get somewhat of a fair price on your transfer. It’s very easy to hail from the airport and costs around $20 one way.

Gringo Taxi’s

Gringo’s Taxi Service is another excellent option for a quick, hassle-free transfer from the airport into the city. The pricing is very fair, and some drivers are English-speaking which can be very helpful. For all services, the journey from the airport to Miraflores takes about half an hour, depending on traffic, and costs $20–$30 for a taxi or $10–$20 for a rideshare.

Public Transportation / Airport Shuttles From Jorge Chavez Airport To Miraflores

If you have the time, and you’re looking for the cheapest way possible into Miraflores, well this is likely your best bet. Public transportation in Lima is very cheap and there are plenty of options such as the Lima Express which costs around $2 – $3. If you’re really in a pinch, you can always take a colectivo which is basically a small bus that is usually less than $1 per ride and involves many transfers and of course, the use of Spanish.

Another option is an airport shuttle service. Companies like Airport Express Lima run air-conditioned shuttles directly to Miraflores for about $8–$10 per trip. Many hotels and hostels in Miraflores also offer private airport transfers, typically priced at $15–$20, depending on the property. Of course, this isn’t much cheaper than a taxi, but it’s still something to consider.

Tips And Tricks For Navigating Transportation (From The Jorge Chavez Airport And Around Miraflores)

Navigating the transportation system in Lima is like navigating anywhere else but there are a few things you should know before hopping on that bus or jumping in that taxi!

Learn Basic Spanish Phrases

Before exploring Miraflores, brush up on some basic Spanish. Simple phrases like “¿Dónde está el paradero?” (Where is the bus stop?) or “¿Cuánto cuesta el pasaje?” (How much is the fare?) can help you navigate or communicate with drivers. This will help you go a long way in navigating public transport and communicating with drivers or locals.

Research Bus Routes and Schedules

The local bus system, including the “colectivos” and “micros,” can be chaotic for newcomers. We recommend researching bus routes online or using apps like Moovit for more accurate navigation. Look for buses with signs listing their stops, but double-check with the driver if you’re unsure.

Keep Your Valuables Secure

Petty theft can happen anywhere, especially in crowded buses or during rush hours. Keep your bag or backpack in front of you and avoid displaying expensive items like phones or jewelry. A crossbody bag with zippers is ideal for the most protection.

Opt for Taxis or Rideshares When in Doubt

If public transport feels overwhelming, grab a taxi, Uber, or Cabify. They’re affordable and often safer for tourists unfamiliar with the area – but confirm the fare beforehand if using a street taxi. You can even book a local tour with companies like us for the extra peace of mind too.
